About Us

Paul and I met on a blind date on January 18, 1964; the date was arranged by our mutual friends, Carol and Ken Unger.  We were engaged on February 13, 1965 and married on June 26, 1965.  We lived in the Harrisburg area for the first year of our marriage and then moved to Enola, PA where Matt was born on July 7, 1966.  Andy joined the family on September 4, 1968 and we moved to Carlisle on September 6, 1972.  Two years later, on September 26, little Nathan was born and our family was complete.

Paul, a computer programmer by profession, worked for the Federal Government for most of his working life.  When I met him, he was working at Olmsted Air Force Base.  When that base was closed, he moved to New Cumberland Army Depot; from there he moved to Letterkenny in Chambersburg, then, shortly after Nathan's birth, to the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot.  He retired from the Depot in January 1996; since that time he has worked part-time on and off for Information Technology Systems in Mechanicsburg.

I worked at the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board from the time I graduated from high school in 1962 until six weeks before Matt's birth in 1966.  After that, I didn't hold a paying job until Nathan was in 5th grade and I went to work for Dickinson College on a temporary basis.  I ended up getting a full-time job at the college in January 1986 in the Office of Off-Campus Studies.  In August of 1995, I took a part-time job in the Department of Dramatic Arts (now the Department of Theatre and Dance).  I work 3.5 hours per day for ten months of the year and have my summers to do what I please.  This summer I will be helping Paul recover from knee replacement surgery scheduled for June 6.  (See Knee Knews on my homepage.)

I hope to add a little more about each of our sons in the days to come.
